Ice Bug Multi – Run: these innovative shoes enable serious runners or recreational fitness enthusiasts to more safely continue their programs year round. These truly unique shoes result from the brainchild of a world-class age group triathelete who wanted to train year round regardless of traction conditions. His desire to run quality workouts in bad traction lead to both: single, trip and fall traumatic injuries and chronic overuse stress and strain injuries associated with the slight, unaccustomed extra stride and the increased, negative tonic body tension that one carries when running on slippery slopes. He observed that winter weather patterns were full of snow, slush, dry, rain, slush, repeat. He also noticed that 4 wheel drive vehicles often slid into the ditch but were seldom studded. His solution was to design shoe traction on all surfaces, asphalt, and snow, and dirt, ice, mixed. And a great surface area, pattern, rubber compound were not enough, he knew studs were essential. Thus, the Ice Bug with carbide studs for ice, snow, slush, mud and that retract on firm surfaces was the creative solution he came up with in the form of the Ice Bugs. The outsole of an ICEBUG shoe consists of a specific rubber mixture and is enhanced with carbide tip steel studs. This patented BUGrip sole is designed and engineered to react differently to various surfaces. On soft and slippery surfaces, the studs protrude, thereby piercing and gripping the ground. On asphalt, concrete or other hard surfaces, the studs are pushed up into the rubber outsole with very step. As a result it’s the rubber around the stud that makes contact with the ground, providing a non – slip outer surface with plenty of friction. Tests have shown that his technology is especially well suited for use on uneven and stony surfaces. By reaction to changes in pressure, the spikes protrude only where needed to ensure perfect grip. The BUGdri microclimate system features a membrane interlining sock construction. The membrane – together with a moisture controlling lining – provides superior climate for the feet. BUGrip “smart” studs technology provide exceptional all – around traction. On slippery surfaces the carbide tip steel studs grip the ground but on hard surfaces the studs are pushed into the sole at every step and the rubber around the studs gives the grip.
